Wind-sock, was first published in the spring of 1985. It is a magazine for World War One aeroplane enthusiasts and scale modellers. It is notable for the feature articles on WW1 aircraft types and markings written by the acknowledged experts in their field. It also includes authoritative reviews of WWI kits, books and other products. It is a full size magazine illustrated with colour pages, archive photos and scale drawings. It is edited and published by the former editor of ‘Scale Models’, Ray Rimell.
The same publisher produced a parallel series of "data files" by various authors. We hold some fifty of them, catalogued here.
The magazine changed title to Windsock (no hyphen) starting with Volume 3, no.1 (1987.)
The cover of Volume 2, No. 2 from the summer of 1986, was an early colour edition, showing the Fokker DVI from Jasta 80b.
Our collection is complete from volume 1 to 28 (1985 to 2012), loose issues, boxed but not bound, and is catalogued here.
