flashing top roof

Part of the roofing needing repair. This section is over 120 years old, is the highest roof in Picton and is structurally in excellent condition; however, "ice-wicking" combined with near hurricane force winds started to tear away at the aluminum flashing that is probably less than thirty years old; heavier steel and significantly more robust fastenings will ensure future longevity.

Emergency roof repairs

Protection of our unique collections

During the recent "spring thaw", we had two cases of serious water ingress. It was a nine hour day of continually mopping up gallons of water and ensuring no damage was done to the book and art collections. A big thank you to the volunteers who worked valiantly – damage was limited to replacable ceiling tiles.

A reliable contractor was engaged to repair our roofs, as the shingles and flashing keep flying off in high winds creating more potential risk. They have completed the repairs.

We are asking for your help to pay the bills. Recent fund raising, while very positive, still leaves us short of full requirements. We are therefore reaching out for your generosity, and thank you for your help in preserving the unique and important collections, a significant asset and legacy for our local and extended community. All donations will, of course, be recognized with a Tax Receipt for income purposes.

Donations by credit card can also be made, securely and conveniently, on our secure server which is available here or the PayPal donation link can be used.
